It’s been a while

Hi, This Thursday will be the first meeting for Chameleons this year. It’s been a long winter and the Easter Weekend’s snow seemed Nature’s last hurrah after lulling is into spring clothing the week before. I do love the gap between the actual seasons and the marketing guff that powers the fashion industry. Sleeves reced and opaques vanish as it’s time to shift into the white and navy palettes…. as the hail batters the windows 😁 Nothing puts me in the mood to buy a summer dress than when it’s just above freezing 😛 However, there’s plenty of things to be mixed, matched, and mulled over before Thursday night. Casual or corporate? Dress or jeans? Heels or sandals? It’s all […]

Immunity 1.0

Hi, Earlier last week I received a text from the local health centre saying I was eligible for the COVID19 vaccine. You get early doors if you’re a duffer like me. 🙂 Self mockery aside, I’ve not had to isolate unlike my folks have or my in-laws, so things to be thankful for. Likewise, no side effects except a slight pain in my upper arm for about a day. The injection needle was one of those very fine ones, so you hardly felt it. Luckily, the vaccination centre wasn’t far from where I work, so not a massive faff to get to. Or perhaps more accurately, not far from where I would drive in, only to sit in front of […]

TDoV 2021

Hi, On March 31st each year it’s the international Transgender Day of Visibility. Unlike the day of remembrance later in the year, today is a today to talk about the achievements of our community. I think it is worth noting that to those of you on the transgender spectrum and allies as well, have a moment to reflect on your achievements. I don’t say this to butter you up with false praise, but that small acts of kindness and perhaps more than ever this year, being present is a form of activism. Equally, if you are helping someone else – be they trans, a friend of someone, or a would-be ally – you are doing excellent work. It all counts […]

Lessons Learned: Part VIII – Fake your shape

Hi, In previous Lessons Learned I’ve written about various things including finding your personal style and shopping. This post (hopefully) fills a gap around building your shape. Now, that might seem a bit odd – I almost wrote nuts, but we’ll come too those later 😉 – in the idea you can build a shape. What I mean is, what are the tricks, hacks, and ProTips to help you have more of a femme figure compared to your regular figure. I will touch on FTM stuff as well, but as that’s not my area of expertise, it will be light. First off, let me a clear – oh dear, I sound like a politician about to not answer the question […]

UK Census 21

Hi, In the weekend just gone it was time for the UK to fill out the census. This time around, things were a little different to the previous decade. The department had taken the option – via feedback and involving trans groups – to improve the data collection and ask about gender identity. Looking into some of the history around that and on listening to a specialist from local government, it seems there’s very much an interest on how many people in the UK consider themselves to be part of the transgender spectrum and also how they choose to identify. There’s a page about that here. Having had the conversation with said specialist a few weeks back, as I say […]

Just another five minutes…

Hi, Last night I got what felt like the first proper night’s sleep in a while. A combination of a change in getting up time, brighter mornings, Hound 1 wanting a middle of the night trip outside two nights on the go (bless him), and then that brain spin where you just can’t seem to switch off. For this reasons, and I’m not providing an excuse 🙂, I have been the wrong side of tired for most of this week. Too tired to summon the violins as I weep dramatically from my chair 😁 Jokes aside, tiredness is a funny beast for me. I find my creativity drops and I do need to feel I’m with it when it comes […]
