Ghosts

Hi, I’ve heard it said that as you get older, you spend more time looking back than looking forward. Perhaps that adage needs a slight update for our current times: the less you can do, the more you look back at what you have done, and what you might do. So this last week or so, old memories of the dressing I’d done at home in yesteryear, and, moreover, that things have moved on. I was sat enjoying the sun last week in the conservatory and my gaze drifted over to a place by the shed. I think I spent an early evening setting the timer, dashing back to a plastic chair, and hoping to have some success in not […]

The Long Game

Hi, The sun is shining, birds are singing in the trees, and there’s a distant sound of traffic. I’ve not driven to work in an age and I am not missing the queuing or the faff of finding a parking place. I am, dare I say?, really getting into this home working gig. The sightly later start, actually getting a lunch hour*, looking out into the garden, and having time with the Ever Lovely Mrs J is rather nice. I am so far coping with the lack of dressing, although I am missing meeting up with T friends at Chams. This week’s online meeting was a no show as others had a lot on. Still, maybe next week will be […]

Handlebar

Hi, Hello Wednesday, you old devil you. Could it be that I glimpse the weekend closer to then further away? 🙂 The other night I happened to catch a rather good BBC documentary about medicine and chemistry. Now, I’m neither, so from a lay person’s point of view, I found it all very interesting. The programme closed with a look to the future in which various folk spoke about combining molecules to create drugs to interrupt specific biological processes: in this case, pain. We’ll come back to that in a minute. Well, longer if it takes me a while to get to the point. 🙂 Ah, to be paid by the word for this malarkey eh? 😉 Where was I? […]

Is it time?

Hi, How has this week gone for you? Here at Jones Towers we’ve been off work (in a lovely way) more than we’ve been at work. A two day working week? Ooo, it was a struggle! 🙂 Indeed coming back to work wasn’t as tricky as usual. Perhaps the lack of a commute nor having to hustle the kids through the school run keeps us all a little calmer. That said, I have been finding things somehow more frustrating. I am hoping it’s just a momentary episode of Grumpy Dad Syndrome rather than a byproduct of zero Lynn time. It’s the little things like you just do all the laundry and what feels like a moment later, the washing basket […]

Numbers

Hi, Another midweek post? Well, why not. It’s not like we’re getting out of the house 😁 Yes, it’s been a rather lovely long weekend at Jones Towers. I hope you had a good break too. Given the change in the weather I decided to buy some new sandals. Not fancy ones, but some bloke ones. I did get 20% off which I cool, so I’m waiting on the delivery. I did look at what was on offer in the nicer rails, but given the lockdown and a wider collection of heels, wedges, ballerina pumps, and boots: I decided against it. Excluding some garden wellies, I think I’ve got three pairs of bloke shoes. Some ankle boots, a pair of […]

Enjoying the moment

Hi, After the hustle and bustle of the previous weeks, it’s now the Easter Bank Holiday. Clearly I didn’t feel I was busy enough, so I booked a skip to be dropped off. I know, I’m being very middle class. 🙂 After much sweeping, playing keep/throw/maybe, and occasionally some choice language, the conservatory is clear of rammel (junk/clutter). There’s space to spread out, look out into the garden, and I feel I can relax knowing the job is done. There’s a few items to go to charity, but with the lockdown in effect, that’s not going to happen for a while. Still, maybe there will be space in the garage…. once I’ve dejunked that. Bugger 🙂 One thing about Spring […]
