A series of excellent events

Hi, The office is quiet at the mo, and I’m sat listening to birdsong with forest sounds on my headphones (Noisili). I’m feeling rather relaxed, although the large cup of tea probably helps along with the stillness. This week, it’s mostly a good news situation. Midweek Midweek I met with Joanna, a representative from the Womens’ Centre, to find out more about the funding we’ve been working on. That’s gone well and I’ve a bit of paperwork to fill out, to get things going. I think we may be in the final furlong, to coin a phrase. Oh, that reminds me, to help find evidence of making a difference, if you’re a Chameleons visitor – in the real, or virtual, […]

The right type of funk

Hi folks, After the last week posts of grumbling and negativity, it feels rather good to be able to post something altogether more joyous. Oh, to be lost in the freedom of dance, with good* music and friends. To feel the rhythm and sway, strutt or swing as whimsy takes you. ( * A highly subjective term given the variety of peoples’ music tastes…. and lack of. 😉 ) I had *such* a good night out at Chameleons. We’d thrown our Autumn party and despite a fairly quiet turnout, all went well. Sadly a few key folk were on holiday, but you can’t have it all! But, there was food aplenty, dancing (well, for three of us!) and a quality […]

Breaking the rules

Hi, This week has gone rather quickly, given the bank holiday and then a day off, with the Ever Lovely Mrs J. Yes, we took a day off together, and nipped into town for a fancy lunch and Mrs J’s hair appointment. Wee Man and Little Miss were busy at school, so it wasn’t like our usual trips out. Sometimes, I guess you’ve got to push the boat out a little. 🙂 Out One of the new ladies emailed Chameleons asking for some tips about day time shopping. She was having a day out with her wife, but wondered if we had any suggestions. Here’s a few from that email: Crowds are your friend. Should anyone clock you, you’ve already […]

Warm heart

Hi, A post of light and dark this evening. If this isn’t your bag (baby), feel free to scroll on as required. 🙂 The Dark Last month, I visited a friend and found out, they’d been struggling with depression. Struggling, is now, perhaps too light a word for what they had. Swamped, drowned, consumed even. All words that may convey there sheer onslaught of what they went through, and, bless them, still are. They’re having treatment, but by no means are they out of the woods. Yes, it’s that type of serious, the poor bugger. I sat, listened, and sipped my tea as the story unfolded. I’ve made no secret, nor poster campaign, that I had depression. If being honest […]

It’s beginning to look a lot like weight gain…

Hi, Well, that’s the first working week of the year out of the way. In many ways, it felt a bit like a cross between a Carry On film and The Walking Dead. (Ed: Carry On Walking the Dead?) Various adults wandering around, some shuffling, as they try to shake off the late mornings and later nights. That and the extra Xmas weight we’ve put down for the winter. 🙂 But it’s over – for now! – and it’s back to family time and other more interesting things. Umm…. Not that much is going on really. I think we’re still getting back into the swing of things and my job as IT/gadget adviser is winding down nicely. Really, I’m so […]

Slap

Hi, A late post from Yours Truly, as the school holidays are now under way for the Jones Massive. Both Wee Man and Little Miss have been in need of some down time. To be away from both the routine of early mornings and all day in a class room. They’re not the only one in need of a break too, the Ever Lovely Mrs J will, I’m sure, appreciate dodging the multiple bullets of half a work afternoon, the dash home to collect the kids and start the tea. Meanwhile, I’m still bashing the rocks together, at work, before crawling home in the evening traffic. Not, that I’m complaining, the commute could be a lot worse and I do […]
