Comfortable

Hi, Another Friday, another blog post! 🙂 Comfort & Joy A few days back I happened to fall upon the article What does the tightness of our clothes say about our emotions? which chimed given my love of winter, hygge (“who guh“), and leaning into my I’m-not-mesh-I’m-wrapped-up-nicely-thank-you nature. Being a 50 something bloke, you’ll not be seeing me in sports leggings, skinnies*, or a fitted top – not with my ‘shape’. Apparently lumpy is still a shape, just not a smooth one!😉But, with the cold comes the need to layer appropriately and as the doggos need a walk & a sniff every day, keeping warm in the sharper late Autumn breeze is welcome. [ * At least, not in bloke […]

Don’t over do it

Hi, Gah, I’ve got brainfizz and, if you’ll forgive me, I’m just going to have to type stuff into the whitespace until I break the deadlock and actually write something. I think in truth – and other than my current inability to focus – is that I feel I don’t have a lot of stuff to report. I won’t be opening the folder marked Thought exercise: does any of this matter? because that way madness lies…. and not the skanktastic musical act either 😉 Wakey wakey, Lynn It was Chams last night and a visit with friends always lifts my spirits. I was late setting off because I’d been overdoing it in the week. Sometimes, I think I need to […]

Brrrrilliant

Hi, Can we start with “brr, it’s a bit nippy?” 🙂 Or as we’d say in Nottingham “it’s a bit code“. That’s not a typo, BTW. For some quirk of accent, we like to say it – code not ‘kold‘ – like that round here. See also “it’s a bit wharm”. I don’t think it’s to confuse folk new to the area. Although as old friend at Chams once asked if her work colleagues, “It’s code for what?” 🙂 Very reasonable question, IMO. I mean someone had to explain the local word ‘fuddle’ to me years back. Dressing for it Being a right mesh* bogger, the snow and frost mean I’ve been layering up. Perhaps one advantage of being genderfluid, […]

Connects and disconnects

Hi, How’s things? Hopefully going well and if not, fingers crossed they will be soon enough 🤞 Blah blah blah A few months back I cancelled my subscription to a well known newspaper. Not completely due to price rises but because of their blindspot around giving a platform to discrimate towards trans folk. /S But, y’know, let’s face it; if there’s one minority who need bring down a peg or two; it’s those pesky trans people. Walking around, just being themselves, trying to get on in life, and wanting the same rights as others – like, say; employment, medical rights, body autonomy, to not being murdered – it’s insane isn’t it? 🙄 With the return of the monkey king to […]

Belated blogiversary

Hi, How’s things? Here at Chez Jones, it’s been a quiet Halloween, as both Child 2.0 and the Every Lovely Mrs J have been away. In days of yore, I guess I would’ve booked time off, dressed suitably, and headed out into the world to stretch my legs. But, time was not my friend and if I’m honest, my energy levels were more suited to curling up on the sofa with a warm mug of tea and catching up on some streaming. That and updating my game’s mod list with new tweaks and features. Creature feature Given the comments in the press, politics, and rent-a-gob Bigot of the Week, I thought it best to lean into the trans stereotypes for […]

A week of living undangerously

Hi folks, With it being a half-term break in dear Old Blighty – and two weeks* for Notts residents – the Jones Family decided to take some time off. Given last time’s wobble post – or possible ‘melt-down’ if I’m part of the ADD/ADHD neurospicy massive? – perhaps a break away from the usual would be a good thing. Oh, and to the kind souls who wrote in with wisdom and kindness, thank you 🙏 ( * Readers of a certain age may wish to over pronouces the phrase ‘two weeks’ 🙂 Be aware that the original Total Recall film came out in 1990…. and still no sign of flying cars or home fusion! 🙃 Looking at you Back to […]
