Don’t over do it

Hi,

Gah, I’ve got brainfizz and, if you’ll forgive me, I’m just going to have to type stuff into the whitespace until I break the deadlock and actually write something. I think in truth – and other than my current inability to focus – is that I feel I don’t have a lot of stuff to report. I won’t be opening the folder marked Thought exercise: does any of this matter? because that way madness lies…. and not the skanktastic musical act either 😉

Wakey wakey, Lynn

It was Chams last night and a visit with friends always lifts my spirits. I was late setting off because I’d been overdoing it in the week. Sometimes, I think I need to remember the magic phrase “Not now, but later” as by the late week, I was decidedly frazzled. My own fault and I think I need to back away so I don’t burn out before Christmas.

The lateness was caused by a dad nap Disco Nap to pep my batteries up – and that was after the extra coffee at lunchtime! But, I’d packed earlier and was fairly happy with my choices. Bonus points: as I took my wig out of the cupboard, the curls had softened nicely into waves, which was a pleasant surprise.

Given the near freezing tempreatures, I’d borrowed a comfy jumper from the Ever Lovely Mrs J – said top has cute flappy sleeves ❤️ – and I teamed that with some old knee boots and a wine coloured skirt. I found the necklace lurking in my changing bag and as there are earrings to match, it felt rude not to give those a go too. Thanks to Val for assisting with the photography 🙏

I think I need to pick up on my undereye techique as it had gone a bit crinkly by the end of the night. On the positive: a sure sign of plenty of smiles and laughter. However, it does age you! 😁 Any recommendations, BTW?

Evening

The evening was busy-ish and a slight change in that with not having a full house, we didn’t fragment into small pockets of conversation. That’s good when it happens and it’s just as good when we talk as a group. There were some humourous stories shared, a chat about food, culture, and “have you ever eaten….?” questions which were somewhat unusual and interesting. It did make me chuckle when Ann mentioned that she’d taken some Marmite on an overseas work trip and reception by other nationalities was…. decidely mixed! 😁

We had a new lady visit us and she’d made quite the trip, being about 1.5 hours away, bless her. That is a long route and we chatted about this & that, before I had to move on to help with the organising. I think Leicester Chameleons may be closer for her, so hopefully she finds a group that works for her.

Xmas Plans

With most of us present, I took the chance to try and finalise the fuddle / bring-something-edible event that we close the year on. I think we have that all sorted now, so it’ll be a case of not trying to buy something new for the party. TBH, I’ve yet to see anything in my usual gotos that catches my eye. I may well rewear a black lace dress that I was going to pass along. Mainly because the cutting back on bread & choccies seems to have helped reduce the size of my tum.

The other thing I’ve got to sort is fixing the replacement hip pads to some shorts. The pads are a much better shape than the ones that fit into some shapewear shorts. Plus said shorts can be a bit too warm at times. Hence trying something new and I guess when I find some time on my ownsie, I may have to break out the needle & thread.

Wrapping Up

So a really good night and one that’s put a spring in my step for the weekend.

Take care,
Lynn

  1. Well, madame has gone for the cutesy pose and doesn’t she look nice. I hate cold weather, but the compensation is soft, warm outfits and I like that one.

I’ve mentioned before that the Post-Chams blog posts here are always the most positive ones. You should do this every day!

(PS I need some help on the canine front (the animal, not the tooth) and you might be just the person. Email may be on its way at some point…)

    1. I was hoping for A) not my usual standing position, and B) slumped like a bad drag tribute to Monty Python’s Gumby! 😁 So, cutesy? I’ll take that thank you. 🩷

Yes, you’re right about the post Chams, uhh, posts – they are more upbeat. I suppose there’s a mix of taking with friends, it’s a really positive/supportive environment, and – as I’ve written before – I can be an of me. Or, perhaps authentic, which I think is the current term.

On a note about authenticity, while being able to express myself visibility, there’s an equal – if not larger element – in that my nature is fully accepted by the group. There’s no need to mask my femme leanings as I do away from the group.

PS: pooch problems or doggo dilemmas? Hopefully not in a bad way and sure, email away when you’ve a European Standard Mo 🙂

    1. Thanks for that. The winged eyeliner trick is very cool. I may try that before the next Chams event.

I think my issue is that while I used a brush to pay in and blend under my eyes, the standard primer isn’t staying put. I’m either not getting it to set or it’s too fluid, so it’s settling in my wrinkles. I may need to experiment with a lip product – no, really – as that has helped in the past.

As to video content, I found the tutorials by Smitha Deepak and also Wayne Goss. Those videos really chimed with me.

On a side note, I think Wayne has branched into well-being which is very supportive. He did a video recently about aging.
