Breaking the dry spell

Hi, This, is very much the life. I’ve had the luxury of a week off at home. I appreciate that may sound sarcastic, and in many ways, that’s my default tone. One of continual dry humour, but honestly, the Jones Family Staycation (apologies for anyone who dislikes portmanteaus), worked rather well. It’s not often you do the tourist thing in your local city. We’ve visited some ruins, been on long walks in the woods, had some very nice lunches out and risked a family day out, ice skating. Me and sport go together like ham and bicycle clips. But, you do your best and try not to break anything, when you fall over. I’ve worn some, shall we say, impractical […]

If music be the food of love… get me a bucket.

Hi, Poptastic On the way to work I was listening to Radio 4’s The Reunion. For those of you outside the UK, Radio 4 is part of the BBC and it’s talk radio. Not so much speak your brainz phone ins, but interviews, book of the week and other such stuff. Oh, and comedies – either plays or panel shows (yay! News Quiz). None of this modern popular beat combo nonsense, that’s for sure. 😉 Anyhoo, today was a programme called The Reunion, which – perhaps somewhat obviously – brings people together after a long period of time, to discuss and comment on a historic, or social, event of yesteryear. Today, was the Hit Factory. A team of three gents […]

Mirror, mirror, on the wall….?

Hi, With all things being well, this post will see the light of day – okay, the subdued kiss of evening – sometime Friday night. Yes, the Jones Massive are on the move for a short break. Partly due to school training days, upcoming birthdays and the why-the-hell-not factor. Not to mention the fact that both the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I could both do with a break from filling the boilers of bureaucracy with the paper of pointlessness…. okay, that’s enough of that word torture, you get the picture 🙂 Earlier in the week, it was Mrs Jones Senior’s birthday, seventy years upon with rock, no less. My sister and my dad, (bless ’em) had colluded to plot and […]

“When the good comes to bad the bad comes to good,
But I’m a live my life like I should…”

Hi, I was tempted to say ‘yo’, but I just can’t bring myself for fear that the irony would be missed 🙂 Wednesday and Thursday were very much a chore for some reason. I think it may be because I’d reached the end of catching up on a favourite television series (On-line viewing rules – doubly so with ad-blockers 😀 ) and that work was really dragging. So, I plodded home – as much as one can when driving – through the traffic and after dealing with the nippers, headed off to Chams. I was not in the best of moods when I arrived because I felt short on time. On the upside, when I got back, the Ever Lovely […]

“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both.”

Hello dear reader, Well, I have faffed and messed around this evening. Hoping that by the delay, I will be blessed with a visit from the Muse – from a classical sense, not the band – and something interesting would pop into life between my ears. That hasn’t happened. 🙂 I did toy with the idea of leaving today’s post until Saturday night, but I have a feeling that the same thing would happen again. I guess that’s how blogs wind down, not with a bang, but a whimper and all that. I should add that I’m not thinking of giving up just yet. When I do get my head around blogging, I do enjoy it. I’ve met some interesting […]

“Cyborgs – cybernetic organisms….”

Hi, How’s tricks? All good I hope. The Jones Massive are currently away on a jolly. Not so much a jet setting adventure to shores and locales far from home, just a quiet little cottage away from it all. It’s been a good holiday and one different from what we’d normally do. This time around, we’ve been doing more walking and ourdoorsy stuff. I think it’s a good thing to break up the typical holiday choices and go for something a little different. This time around, it’s very rustic and I’m really enjoying the open air, just getting out and feeling the sun on my face, etc. The dog seems to be enjoying the walks, although you never can tell […]
