Unhurried

Hi,

Today has been a gift of unhurried time. No back to back meetings, no traffic troubles, and nowhere to be. Nowhere except a long walk through a glorious Autumn day with the Ever Lovely Mrs J and the hounds. Well, nowhere except for stopping off for an early lunch midway 😉 This is how a good day off rolls. Oh, and the afternoon Forty Winks wasn’t half had either! 😌

Slack Friday

Despite the email surge of offers and app pings attempting temptation, I am oddly unmoved to buy anything this time around. I’m not sure if this is a good or bad thing, the me

In years previous, I would have searching for a new party dress or similar. In truth, I’ve looked and I’ve yet to see anything that I would want to spend my money on. My usual favourite, Joe Browns, is nearly all mid calf, high neck, midi dresses (yeah, I know not both legs & boobs – but neither?) are doing zip for me. Roman are throwing out discounts like confetti, and I’ve come close, but the choices feel a bit like I’m pushing to find something. Amazon I’m ignoring due to both the workers’ strike and it’s hard to filter out the cheap ill-fitting stuff, from the genuine good stuff.

Maybe it’s the fashion choices, maybe it’s the happy tablets (or dried frog pills, as Deb & Jayne referenced), or maybe there’s nothing that’s ticking the boxes.

Perhaps that’s a good thing? Firstly, if that’s all I’ve got to ponder, then life can’t be that bad! 🙂 Plus, it’s not like I’ve not got a number of separates and dresses I couldn’t reuse.

Fuzzy logic

Midweek I decided to epilate again and it’s reminded me that I really need to get my act together about booking a waxing appointment. Yeah, the epilator does a reasonable job, but it’s certainly not as good nor as long lasting.

Given it’s very much long sleeves weather, I’ve done my arms too. Not that there’s much on them. Just enough to be occasionally annoying/yuk factor. I am wondering – perhaps even hoping? – that a few months of hair removal will thin the follicles here and there.

Wig related pun to go here

A new local business visited the group last night and they specialise in wigs and hair. N’s new website and offices are nearly ready, so I’ll share them when it’s okay to do so.

Much fun was had trying on various items and it was great to see so many happy faces. I did try on half a dozen or so, yet I didn’t have that yes feeling that the new ‘do was The One. Interestingly, the one I nearly bought looked fantastic on Debbie (and yes, I did say), so I was happy by proxy.

I tried a few darker items and also some ombre styles too. I mean, you never know if something might catch your eye. Due to my Kryten shaped head (“heeeaaad?” 😉), a few didn’t fit and a fringe is a difficult sell with my jawline. But this blonde number was a nearly. What made me chuckle was three folk said “that’s a yes” and a good friend – who shall remain nameless – gave me that gentle ‘no’ shake of the head. It was fun to try, but it wasn’t to be.

I did see an auburn number, but I was a little slow off the mark and another member had bought it. “Drat and double drat, Muttley” 😁

Hanna-Barbera

Hang on: slightly rounded body? Prominent jaw? Hairy? Wheezy laugh and evil sense of humour? Umm, is my spirit animal Muttley? 😁

Other than the trying on fun, it was really good to catch up with N, and hear how her business is starting to come together. We might working together over something with OUTpatients – a LGBTQ+ cancer support – so watch this space. Please do take a mo to read the statement from OUTpatients around NHS care for trans people. 🏳️‍⚧️

Chams stuff

Due to me being a bit crap with numbers, I accidentally overpaid the Centre this year. This means we’re ahead on the room hire rates. This helps give us more room to cope with income dips when the summer arrives. That or do an extra ‘free night’, but I need to square that with the other organisers. Always a team effort, as I like to say.

We’ve got one more meeting this year and it’s our Christmas Party. Folk have kindly volunteered to bring nibbles along, so it’ll be a fuddle affair. For folk outside the Midlands, think of it as a crowd sourced, DIY buffet! 🙂

I know it’s November, but I am not yet feeling it in terms of Christmas magic. In fact, my folks have asked us not to buy them anything. The Ever Lovely Mrs J has expressed similar, although I may not be able to resist getting her something. Even if it’s the non-gift of ‘care cheques’. A tongue-in-cheek thing of this cheque entitles the bearer to… Each includes something like: breakfast in bed, cup of tea on demand, having a duvet day, partner will go to the shops for snacks, genuine compliment, warm hug, can’t adult today so reading in bed, etc. ❤️

Other than you wish you an enjoyable weekend, it’s time to close off with the obligatory outfit photo. Thanks to Val for camera duties and it’s a change in location, given the other space was in use. It’s separates rather than a dress and the skirt is navy, although the lighting might not show it. Maybe mini SAD lamp would help? Hmmm.

I’d packed a dress in case my skirt and top choice didn’t quite work. Okay, I’d also packed another skirt and cardi + cami as a backup backup. Gah, you can take the lady out of IT, but not the IT out of the lady 😉 “Trust me: you should include a plan for if things don’t go to plan!” 🙂

PS: If this is your bag, please do send some positive vibes to a friend called A. I think they could do with a bit of good luck heading their way 💜

  1. That’s a nice office-chic outfit this time.
I avoided Black Friday (but sadly not the endless stream of adverts in the 2-3 three weeks running up to it). Christmas presents for L are already bought and waiting to be wrapped, but I like the idea of ‘care vouchers’.

Not sure about the blonde bombshell look, but maybe it’s because the lippy is a bit to dark for it. Perhaps you should follow up on the auburn number later.

    1. Thanks for the kind words regarding the outfit. Not sure it’ll be seen in the actual office, but one can dream, right? 🙂

Most of our telly watching is streamed, so we don’t tend to get a lot of ads. Not something I miss when I make the time to watch a show on a commercial channel. I’ve taken to muting the telly during and breaks our watching it on catch up sans ads. Oddly, I don’t mind an offer email from a vendor I like, possibly because I might buy from them, but more because I can opt out at any time.

I wouldn’t recommend ‘care cheques’ as the only gift, but certainly as a bit of fun or a top up.

Yeah, the blonde number was a bit of fun really. I tried another three or four on, but size/shape were an issue. Still, with a bit of luck I’ll fall on the right item in time. I’m hoping N can work her hair magic, so fingers crossed

  2. I liked your post very much. This is how life is as a TGirl: online browsing, epilating, choosing a wig, selecting an outfit for the next outing, meeting the girls … All very real.

Sounds like working part-time is doing you a lot of good.

Nice outfit for Chams. The blonde wig does suit you but makes you look older and more of a boss lady than the everyday TGirl next door. Starring as Lynn de Jones, CEO of Vague Magazine in The Devil Wears Noriko … I exaggerate for comic effect! Right? Oh, sorry, ma’am, I’ll clear my desk …

    1. The reduced hours is certainly helping balance caring duties and it helps take away the risk of overdoing it at the weekend. I think I can see why folk are pushing for a four day working week and being paid for five. We can afford me to go off every other Friday, but not four days every week. I know people who do work those hours and less, bless them.

‘… more boss lady…’ 😁 Yeah, I don’t think I’ll be switching over to blonde anytime soon. Maybe a lighter brown or auburn, but I’m really happy with what I have now, so no rush to change.
