Hi,
The right type of bright green – not the jade eyed monster – but the beautiful colours of Spring. It’s been great to be out in nature with the shorter weeks and longer weekends. Dare to dream of a four day week at some point? How awesome would that be?

Perhaps the mix of warmer, sunnier climes, and less time spent bashing away at the keyboard, have helped me stay refreshed. I probably shouldn’t tempt the Fates around the lack of visits from the Dysphoria Goblin, but – touch wood – it’s been a while since the last visit… and I am enjoying the mental peace that that brings.
Technology & apologies
Moving on from goblins to gremlins, YATGB was up and down last weekend for unknown reasons. I’ll keep an eye and nudge the IT experts who host this blog if it goes again. I’m hoping it was a temporary glitch.
The ‘previous posts’ widget is back as I had to turn off the old version. It seems the other version has been abandonded and had a security issue. So, that’s gone to the great /dev/null in the sky.
Oh, and a – uhh – a comment on comments 🙂 The anti-spam system is generally very good at keeping junk out of the blog, and letting through your thoughts. It does get a bit grumpy if you put in a hyperlink, and if you do – which is fine – your comment won’t show straight away. It’ll go into the Pending bucket and at some point, Muggins here will check that and click approve. If there’s a greenlisting system, I’ve not found it yet.
I’ve added a page and a menu item that links to all the script or shade posts I’ve written.
History not in the making
I read last week in the Graud that the Midlands seems to have the least interest in the monarchy. I dare say investment in the region has something to do with it. That, and possibly, the events around certain behaviours that have come to light.
Now, before anyone points the finger at my lEFty tR4nzGeNre bAis – although, to be fair, if the ethics, empathy, and equallity hat fits 😜 – there’s been a long shadow around how the Midlands is funded, one that goes back over governments from the last twenty years or so. Certainly from a per person point of view, less is given for health.
To that end, there’s a handful of houses with Union Jack bunting up and that’s about it. I’m not seeing much locally, as folk seem to be uninterested. Maybe more will happen the closer we get to the day itself.
As to the Ever Lovely Mrs J and myself, we will be out & about somewhere quiet, and maybe – if we’re lucky – able to enjoy a tea and a sit down in peace.

Plenty of folk round my way have bunting up, increasing in volume the closer one hits certain social demographics (if you see what I mean). But I am pleased you shall be able to avoid it and have a quiet day with those who love you and whom you love in return.
I do like a good trees photo with a path in it! Looks fab. I must assume local? I must try to get out to the countryside a bit inamongst the rain and the showers this weekend if I can.
Other than seeing a few flags up, it’s been very quite really. We had visited a new café and managed to avoid the temptation of a bacon cob. The veggie options were utterly delicious and a walk back through the park was pepped up with a person who’d recently bought a new hound, bless them.

I think that particular photo is up in Sherwood Forest. Well away from the main car park and off the beaten track. I had another nearer home up by the old farm, where the trees are blossoming and the grass is tall, and sways in the breeze. Heaven for the soul, hell for the allergies 😉
Good luck on getting out into the woods. Hopefully a small brolly, a flask of tea, and good shoes get you somewhere gorgeous. Feel free to inject a pause in that last sentence for a free compliment 😁
Wow, somebody who know what is /dev/null is!
It’s where [insert name of organisation(s) you dislike] put their feedback. 😁
It’s required trans knowledge , as well as knowing how to tune a carb, and weld a perfect bead while booging to the the A-Team theme tune.
I feel my T skills are very much in need of an upgrade.
Boogie? Yes, sir, I can boogie (but I need a certain song) 🎵
Actual mechanic skills, not so much. 😁
I’ve been in Britain for a couple of weeks and the rolling swathes of virid green are a big contrast to the dottings of silver green in the tumbledown rocks of the Med where I now live. I’m not (yet) tired of the rain either as that’s a contrast too. Spring is always hopeful. I’m glad the dysphoria demon is quiet.

A different kind of natural beauty in northern parts of Europe, I guess. As much as sunshine and dry weather can be good, a spot of cooling rain is refreshing too. Maybe not in the middle of a picnic, though!
The number of houses around here with bunting is a lot less than I expected to be honest.
Still coronation paraphernalia on sale in Asda this morning, perhaps hoping those with severe memory issues will wonder in at some point.
It is certainly very nice to be able to enjoy a stroll in the sun, Sunday was a gorgeous day for us.
Yes, remarkably quiet here too.
Why would you buy the bunting in the sales? I mean, I know the King’s not young, but struggling l stocking up on the off chance of early use seems a bit much 😁
Some of it had the Kings face on it too, so not like you would use it for the next one !
Well, not unless you’re handy with scissors and glue.
“Speed up, duck. Only eighty six more flags to trim and pop a new mugshot on!”
I see your bright green and raise you bright blue 🙂

Ooo, that’s beautiful. Is that up in Newstead?
Rufford 🙂
Ah, I was close but not douze points! 🇪🇺🏳️🌈
