Hi,
Praise be to the four day week. That and a good night out with friends.
I am going to apologise in advance around this evening’s post. In an act of solidarity around the Ever Lovely Mrs J’s health, I switched to alcohol free beer sometime early last year. A shout-out to Big Drop if this is also your bag.
I don’t think I’ve had a beer with alcohol since Wee Man’s birthday in mid 2022….
Perhaps unsurprisingly, having such a long break has honed my lightweight skills to perfection 🤭
Yass
By lucky happenstance an email popped into my inbox offering an extra discount due to the new King. What have the royalty ever done for us eh? 😁
I say lucky, because I just happened to have an item lurking in the should I, shouldn’t I, or wait for the sale basket. So, at 20% off, why not?
Said item arrived on time and it was duly packed for Thursday.
With Steph’s magic on beach waves to my hair fading slightly, I did my best to try and restore the curls using my straighteners. Yes, I appreciate the irony in that choice of words. No, I don’t mean ‘did my best’. I felt quite chuffed at the results, and while nowhere near as good as Steph’s, it was better than my first attempt in the winter.
Changing
Quite a busy evening this time around. I was earlier than usual due to a good journey through the traffic.
As I was setting up upstairs, I almost came unstuck as just as I was about to get changed, I heard the building’s alarm being prepped! Luckily I was still decent and had the group’s security fob to hand. That could’ve been embarrassing.
Local police were baffled on attending a building alarm, when they found an aging burglar trying to disguise themselves as a trans person. “The most unusual thing,” reported PC Not MeName, “was that they hadn’t stolen anything and offered us a cup of tea. We cautioned the individual on picking a strong lip or bold eyes, but not both.”
Lynn’s weird imagination
Luckily none of the above came to pass, so I was free to get ready.
On that note, I decided to try and not rush things. Not so much ‘take my time’ as in dawdle or faff – apologies to overseas readers. Instead, to try and enjoy the process, rather than dash to the end. As Isobel turned up midway, we chatted while my cement set fully. 🙂
Foolishly, I’d not packed my replacement medical tape, so I had slight issues in the cleavage department and face taping. Still, you have to make the best of it.
People & Pounds
As well as a few new folk and returning recent members attending, a family wanted to pop in and ask a few questions, get some advice.
I met them downstairs to give them some privacy to ask what they needed. Nothing unusual or untoward, but I think giving people some space can be a good thing. A way to let people relax a little and not feel in the centre of things.
This meant I missed some of the group conversation, but so it goes!
I caught up with Val around funding for the group and as we examined the accounts, I realised that I’d been paying for the web hosting on my personal bank card, not the Chams one. Whoops! Still, the good news is it wasn’t much, and, more importantly, rectifying the issue will mean we’re not running at a loss each month. Yes, as numbers drop over the summer, we will notice that, but we’re doing okay.
Hollywood Corner was quite busy towards the end of the night, with a fair few folk wanting to capture the moment. Certainly no complaints from me on that idea. I know I will look back at old photos and remember what went on, who was there, and whatnot.
The top, as I mentioned earlier, is new and very floaty. Perfect for summer with leggings, I feel. Maybe in an ideal world, shorts and smooth pins, but best not to think about what you don’t have. Instead, to enjoy what you do.
In software development, there’s a phrase that’s perfect is the enemy of. I wonder if it’s also the mean friend of good enough and happy memories. If we’re always chasing perfection, do we stop to enjoy the ride? 🤔
Armchair philosophy aside, after a busy night, it was time to say goodnight and everyone headed home. Hopefully, feeling refreshed and with having spent a good evening with friends.

Sounds like positives all round! Also, gorgeous top (but surely you knew that).
Funny you should mention philosophy, Thorn has a new one up that, again, almost seems to be deliberately designed to jive with your entry.
Forgot to say: Big Drop very much a solid choice, even for those what have full fat beer. More and more zero percenters are coming to market too, which is nice!
I nearly said ‘cheers’ to break from thank you, but then felt it was an awful pun. So, umm, ta duck 🤪
Yeah, great to see more AF choices available. Alcohol free beers have come on a long way. No more ‘mazzi watter’ brews, that’s for sure.
( For non Notts folk, a mazzi is a cat. Watter is water… and I’ll let you decipher the rest 😁 ).
Yeah, a really good night, thanks. A no show for the Dysphoria Goblin as well, so I’ll take that too.
Thanks for the kind words about the top. It’s from Roman because I’m in that age bracket 😉 and there’s a variety of colours available.
I didn’t know Abigail had a new video out, so I’ll have a look. Thanks for the suggestion.
Funny how somethings coincide. Last week I thought about posting an Ask Me Anything, uhh, post. But, then Stana did and I felt I would be stealing her work. Not that that’s true, accurate, nor is it a competition. Gah, personal hangups eh? 🙄
Very pretty. And the floaty blue top is quite nice too.
Good to hear that you had a good night. If it was the first visit for the family who wanted to ask questions it’s probably best that you went somewhere a bit private to talk rather than throw them in the middle of things.
I see what you did there 😁 Thanks for the kind words, BTW.
As to the family, I made the offer based on the earlier conversation we had one the phone. Most folk seen to come on their own and as such, most of them join the main meeting as is. However, and guesstinating a number, I’d say about one in ten new folk ask to be met downstairs or walked in from the car park. If that helps them, that’s cool in my book.
There tends to be around eight to a dozen plus, most times. No judgement from me if someone finds that a lot of people, intimidating, or otherwise. Trans stuff aside, it’s a dozen people you don’t know, so nervousness is completely understandable.
I guess we try our best to make folk feel comfortable and safe, so they can guage if Chams is for them.
I’ve just been counting back. Was this your 1000th post? 🙂
😮 You may be right there! Bloomin’ ‘eck! 🙂
Alignment is post 1,020, so this may be it. Well spotted 🌟
Jeez. A thousand posts? By all that’s fabulous, that’s both a surprise and quite a number. You know, I don’t keep track of such things. Dates, yes mostly, but not posts. Mainly due to numbers hard yes. 🙂
