A lot better than last week

Hi, What a difference a week makes, eh? A few days of beautiful sunshine, practicing some self care (tea breaks, looking out of the window, etc), and an evening out (Chams) have all helped to put the spring back in my step. All in time for the back holiday weekend as well. 🙂 In other news, our eldest has finished school. That’s it for him until his A level results and then he may be off to university. He’s currently out with his friends and I hope they are drinking responsibility. I mean, you wouldn’t want to spill it would you 😉 I got an early pass to Chams and that helped give me time to set the room up, […]

Rainbows and walls

Hi, Over on Pink News, there’s a report about ‘red wall voters’ and there view on trans people using changing rooms. For overseas readers, the North of England (hint: Scotland is another country in the Union – at least currently in the Union 🙂) is generally chattier and has a different sense of humour to the South. Not better or worse, just different. Plus, the working class and labour/union movement roots of the North tended to make folk lean more left than right in politics. Hence, the Red Wall. But, and like much in life, things are really A or B. There’s a not of complexity and nuance. Background aside, the article states that the assumption that northern folk are […]

Late

The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed the lack of posting this week. For those who popped me an enquiring note, thank you.♥️ Midweek I found myself with nothing I wanted to say and I put off any further thought, thinking that something would arrive by Friday. It usually does, in this blogging lark. A stroll in the countryside, the reflection on something said, or the report of Being Out & Being Me, etc. They all go into the whirlpool of imagination. Usually things connect and thus something is written. Except, of course, this week. I tried my hand at a few threads early on, but they were short and fizzled to nothing. I tried again on Thursday and […]

Taking care

Hi, It’s been an interesting week for me from a mood point of view. There’s been no major issues, stresses, or worries, and yet, early this week, I was not feeling great I’m not wholly sure if it was down to poor sleep, chemistry in the brain, or feeling a little too much like the proverbial rat on a wheel. It may be that It Was Just One of Those Things where you’ll never know, and, even if you did, would knowing help? Well, it depends, but right now, the funk – sadly not the groovy kind – was very much in the ‘unknown unknowns’ zone 🙂 The good news on the above is having had the cognitive behavioural therapy […]

Algorithm

Hi, I’m thinking of starting a new website that’s wholly generated by artificial intelligence. I mean, why pay humans to do it when you can create need stories to fit there’s rules: The X are coming and they’re not like you or me. X activists are demanding new rights. We need to talk about X and how they’ll affect your children. Changing rooms aren’t safe because of X using then. Am I safe to pee when X people are there? X clash with police during ‘peaceful’ protest. Won’t someone stand to for our rights and stop the X taking over our [insert one location from this list: communities, schools, clubs, country]? For X I can drop in gay people, trans […]

Lessons Learned: Part X – Things when out & about

Hi, With luck and confidence on your side, just maybe you’ll be stepping out into the world. That might be to a support group, social event, a day out, etc. Whatever it is, there’s a few key items that can help. Brolly – a fold up umbrella can help keep dry, save your wig, and provides a handy privacy of the weather turns against you. Change – have a few quid in loose coinage for parking meters, snacks, beverages, etc. Some of the fancier toilets may require you to pay, so don’t be caught short. 🙂 Exit Kit – a ‘bug out bag’ with makeup removal wipes, nail varnish remover, spare male clothes, and somewhere to store your fancier clothes. […]
