Hi, Given the travel situation seems to be quite on again, off again, the Jones Massive are staying put this summer. Plus, both kids are off an age where I think they want to be at home with their friends, online, or gaming. I seem to recall when I was their ages – around the time the glaciers retreated from Europe 😉 – that I was happier with my own company, with friends, my trusty old 8 bit computer, than visiting country house gardens with my folks. Hi, The Ever Lovely Mrs J and I have been catching up on our longer walks. Given our dear old boy dog has passed on, it seems his partner in crime, girl dog – and the recently acquired new boy dog – have decided that all walks will now be done at a brisk pace. After the last few months of gentle strolls, I’m not quite managing to keep up. What a duffer eh? 🙂 Perhaps it’s a good thing we have to slow down. Hi, While reading the news this morning, I stumbled upon the story around Hungarian government’s anti LGBTQ stance. I’m not going to pick up on that because, well, either we’ll agree it’s not a good thing and get cross, or we’ll not agree and still get cross. 🙂 What piqued my interest was the reported comment from Xavier Bettel (Prime Minister of Luxembourg) and is out as a gay man, “I did not become gay because of something I saw on TV.” In my personal experience of being the T in the LGBTQ+ community – oh, and I do mean trans, and not “twit” or other insults 😉 – as a child, I knew something was up long before I […]

Hi, Earlier in the school holidays, some of the Jones family headed off to one of those forest high ropes courses. Ah, the things you do as a parent to keep your kids entertained eh? 😉 Luckily, or perhaps, unusually, the British weather was dry and not too hot. The issues I have with the above – climbing activities that is, not our children 0or the weather 😁 – is twofold. Firstly, I’m okay on a dog walk, but if the Zombie Apocalypse requires a lot of clambering about, I’ll be in trouble, being somewhat of a duffer. 😉 Secondly, I’m not good with heights. Hi, I’m having a week off at the mo. No last minute commute from the kitchen to the laptop. Instead, a later hour and a leisurely breakfast with the Ever Lovely Mrs J. After that, perhaps a morning stroll with the hounds while the coffee kicks in. With things being as they are, this will be our second break and a staycation. We’re not far from the back to school week and both kids seem to be happy in their rooms. Gaming, watching YouTube, talking to their mates, and sometimes all three at the same time. Catching up

Hi, Tonight will be a short post because… I’m just knackered. 😁 I’ve had a run of long days and today is my first day off since… quite possibly February. That does seem a bit too much of a gap, so managing to align work diaries with the Ever Lovely Mrs J, we’re having a long weekend. We decided to take it easy with opting for a walk in the local forest. There’s something about the quality of the light, being in nature, and not hearing the drone of cars, but of distant birdsong. All of that helps recharge the proverbial batteries. Mind you, so did the afternoon nap afterwards 😉 L x
