Hi,
Ah, the luxury of a short week and a series of fortunate events. All that and it’s Friday night.
The last few days have been as per the blog title. Well, okay, the arm epilation stung a little, but all for a noble cause! 🙂 Reader, I did have to grit my teeth on trying to remove my underarm hair. I think I see why some folk wax or shave. Still, you gotta try things once in a while!
But emotionally speaking it’s been very positive. No distant howls of the black dog approaching (I’m hoping they’ve found a comfy sofa to sleep on) nor has the Anxiety Goblin returned from their holiday. Maybe they are both resting happily somewhere and I wish them well….. okay, well away 😉
Outfit, Chams, and feeling good
With the warming sunshine and lighter days, I thought I’d lean into Spring a little. Sure it’s only just double figures now and then, but provided you’re out of the wind, it’s lovely. I have really enjoyed hearing birdsong on the afternoon school run 🩷
With Spring here, I had my eye on a pretty flower print dress from Joe Browns. It seemed everyone else did to, as it flew out of the warehouse while I waited for my returns to clear. But, as much would have it, a new set arrived and – yay! – it fitted nicely too.
I felt it a little early for sandals (or wedges), so I had a wander into the We’re-Almost-In-Narnia depth shoe cupboard look to find my old nude Mary Janes. They needed a bit of adjustment in terms of an ‘no show sock’ but that helped with fit and comfort.
Just in case things didn’t go to plan, I packed a spare dress and heels. I mean, it’s not like me to change my mind or have something go wrong on the night 😁 A spare outfit feels a bit like bringing an umbrella; better to have it and not need it, than otherwise 🙂
As to Chams, I thought it went well. No guest speaker this week and good to catch up with friends. Regulars and, umm, irregular regulars 🙂 Ann, Val, and I had a chat about community bank accounts and I’m wondering if we need to put our ‘group rules’ on the forum, so there’s no questions. Not that there’s anything shadowy; I mean, our outgoings are room hire, web hosting, and the once-in-blue-moon printing I do to create a sign for the group. I think Val said she’d stopped claiming for the milk and others have followed suit on the biscuit front. Talking of which, I need to get some more sugar and a new airtight container.
Somehow Joanna had managed to get her bike upstairs. I’m fairly sure she didn’t ride it up – the first and second corner are a bit tricky 😉Maybe the BMX Bandits could advise? 😁Gah, that’s showing my age! 😁 Early 80s and according to the triva, they couldn’t find a female BMXer as a stunt double, so someone had to dress up! Eh, any excuse eh? 😁
So, yeah. A very good night and lots of chat about various things. I did hear some of the group talking about the counter-protest that was planned for Friday. Apparently we had another visit from some anti-trans speaker. According to local news, the counter protest – which took part near the Brian Clough statue – was much larger. Yay for inclusion! 🏳️⚧️
Feeling good
Just around closing up time, I met Stevie and Pat in the changing room. I listened to them talk about their experiences growing up (both are retired). I had a think on what they had to say and thought that Chams/post-Chams, it’s like not having toothache. It’s not that I’m in agony, but it’s more akin to a dull ache that flares up at certain times. I know my triggers (sound of heels, voices, swish of hair in a car window) and try to avoid them. Sue wrote about hers over on her blog. I feel your pain, Mrs 💖
Chams, rare times out, the Ever Lovely Mrs J’s acceptance, and having my body look as I feel it should; these help ensure I am ‘pain free’ for a time. It seems to take a while before the ‘trigger darts’ – if you will – can pierce the protective armour of good vibes. I’ll take that as a win, even if it’s not permanent.

[ Trying a different look at photo corner. Not sure if I’m showing my nails, holding my neck in – or both! 😁 ]

Thanks for the emotional support, Lynn. Much appreciated. Practically nobody outside the trans community is capable of understanding gender dysphoria and trans people listening to and supporting one another is so vital.
Your outfit wins top marks. Such a lovely dress and you combined it so well with the shoes, nails and lippy, hair and makeup. And is that a bit of cleavage popping up in the alternative pose pic? Ooh la la! You need to host one of those TV shows making women look better.
Glad the goblins and bad hounds are well at bay. Have a nice weekend.
Sue x
Solidarity, baby! 🙏
Yeah, I’m with you on the need to look out for each other and look after our little community. It’s always been needed because of the past and again now, due to morons, bigots, and… bigoted morons. On the latter, not the upgrade we needed 😉
FWIW, I’m trying to post the joyful stuff. Not that the bad things aren’t important. I guess it’s about giving a place away away from the “look at this bad thing” when there’s not much you can do. Maybe writing about trans joy in the face of evil cretins is an act of resistance in itself.
Thank you for the lovely words about the outfit. I think the thing that made it work was the happiness within. I know it’s cliché, but a smile is a person’s best accessory. I did feel happy with how things turned out, so I’ll take all that as a win and keep it stored up for future rainy days.
Dear Lynn, It was lovely to read you posting. I didn’t have a short week, but as I have a wonderful and fulfilling job with great flexibility, I am fine with it. I do love your flower print dress a lot and am happy to read that you were able to get one. And it is not only the dress I live but your outfit and your pose as well. Love, Franzi
Sorry to hear you had to with the full week, Franziska.
Thank you for the kind words about the dress and the outfit.
“But emotionally speaking it’s been very positive.”
I can relate to that. If I’m hairy it’s usually because I’m down and can’t summon the energy. Which of course only perpetuates it. Dysphairia I think I once called it.
A good enough term if ever there was one.
Also, the time between dewookification: ack. The pause required so there’s something for the wax to bind too. If it’s summer, I often cave and do the lower legs, as they’re visible.
