Part-timing it

Hi, It’s been a short working week this time around. What with the bank holiday, an extra day to extend the weekend, and now my nonworking Friday to close things off. Feels like the doorstop to a rather tasty sandwich to a hungry person 🙂 Mmmm. Sandwiches 🐖😁 Four days for all? This week saw the new UK government talk about the option of allowing employees to ask for a four day working week. From what I’ve read, it’s a compressed hours situation, so you do longer days, and in return, a day off in the week. I guess we’ll see how this progresses – culturally and politically. Now, I had the compressed hours option when I looked at changing […]

Resale therapy

Hi, Thank goodness it’s a bank holiday weekend as I’m in need of some downtime. Old Git It’s funny, in that our staycation, we were out & about, walking, travelling, etc; and as I’d installed a new game, I was going to bed late too. Thanks hyperfocus 😉 and yet I was not as tired as I’ve been this week. Most odd. From Monday onwards, I was turning in at around 10pm most nights as I couldn’t keep my eyes open. My, that’s unusually positive and drama free isn’t it? 🤪 What a joy to be able to be able to say that, given the last few summer ends have been difficult, mentally speaking. Fingers crossed the negativity goblin remains in their cave eh? Are you local? Sadly, the immortal words of ‘the local shop’ from The League of Gentlemen have not been heard in our wanderings around the East Midlands. Maybe that’s a good thing, given what the shop owners get up to. 😉 So, I’ve had the pleasure of early-ish dog walks accompanied by the Ever Lovely Mrs J in not too […]

One race. One planet.

Yes, it is a funny colour – sort of an orange gammon. Yeah, it says really weird stuff too. How we forget “Look after each other, don’t have hate in your hearts. Say prayers for my baby girl,” Sinead, parent of Grace O’Malley-Kumar “Please hold no hate that relates to any colour, sex or religion,” Emma, parent of Barney Webber Words spoken by the parents of Grace and Barney, two students attacked and murdered in the summer of 2023. An attack that took the life […]

Slow time

Hi, After the double post last time, here I am, late. Tut tut eh? Reviewing the review Shall we start with some positive news? The British Medical Association posted this earlier this week: Members of the BMA’s Council recently voted in favour of a motion which asked the Association to ‘publicly critique the Cass Review’, after doctors and academics in several countries, including the UK, voiced concern about weaknesses in the methodologies used in the Review and problems arising from the implementation of some of the recommendations There’s further details on Pink News as well. The latter includes referencing the other medical groups and experts, on their issues with the evidence and the findings. Last month The Good Law Project […]
