Resale therapy

Hi,

Thank goodness it’s a bank holiday weekend as I’m in need of some downtime.

Old Git

It’s funny, in that our staycation, we were out & about, walking, travelling, etc; and as I’d installed a new game, I was going to bed late too. Thanks hyperfocus 😉 and yet I was not as tired as I’ve been this week. Most odd. From Monday onwards, I was turning in at around 10pm most nights as I couldn’t keep my eyes open. What is it about the nature of modern work that has this effect?

The lad done good

In family news – no, autocorrect, not infamy news 😜 “Eee, it’s them Jones troublemakers and there acceptance and bloomin’ kindness. B*stards!” – Child 2.0 has had his GCSE results and he’s pleased with the grades.

Bless him, he was worried that they would not be what he wanted. So, given I’m not someone who’s very good at exams, I said to him that his grades would not affect my love for him. There’s lots of ways to be and people have different strengths.

C2 had put his all into his favourite subjects and his effort had clearly paid off, bless him. The key things are that he’s happy with the results and he’s got what he needs to do his A levels.

We know that Wee Man much preferred sixth form, so I am hoping Child 2.0 will find it a better environment more suited to their needs. Fingers crossed 🤞

Tick tock tension

I don’t know if it was tiredness or the feeling of a long gap between Chams meetings, but this week I was starting to feel the old tension around gender discomfort. Dysphoria, no; but certainly not fully at ease. Do you get this too?

I guess, the feeling that I’ve been blokey for too long. A kind of spiritual ‘wound up ness’ that’s difficult to shake. Yeah, you can distract and that’s useful, but that’s only a temporary sticking plaster.

I’m often wary about my words here, as I don’t want to give the false idea that it’s some type of addiction. You know, where in home alone for ten minutes, I pop my heels on, and I swoon in ecstatic relief. 😁

Actually, wouldn’t life be easier if that was true! 🤣

In an effort to push back, I painted my toes a pretty colour and gave my wig a wash & style.

🎶 I’m gonna wash that man right out of my hair, and send him on his way! 😁

Tidying up to distract

Despite being -ahem- very laid back about housework, I actually enjoy the feeling of a good clean up. I guess it’s about picking your battles and not getting distracted or overwhelmed.

So, I decided to give Wee Man’s old room a tidy and shift the furniture around. Ah yes, the famous “Ack, this’ll be a ten minute job. Nay bother…”

Wiser readers will no doubt be thinking: some hours later….

…. and you’d not be wrong 😁

But after a good clean behind the cupboards, vacuuming, recycling paper & poly bags, things are better. There was of course that awkwardness of having things in the middle of the room and all over the bed, just so you’ve space to move item X to where item Y was.

But, heavy lifting aside, I’ve now got more storage and a clear desk for the mini PC. The latter was very useful in getting the new Chams payment system setup.

I did, and I’m embarrassed to admit this, find a Joe Browns summer dress unopened amongst the pile of winter clothes. Pretty though it is, it doesn’t fit right across my boobs, so it’s going to have to go on Vinted, as I can’t return it. Oh, the shame… 😬

Chams

In truth, by late Thursday, I was thinking I’d be happy with a long sleep rather than going out. But, I think the truth of it, is meeting friends and getting out was what I really needed.

I took my new to me sandals and an old wrap dress to wear. I did need to use some emergency pinning using an old earring stud, as the wrap was a little on the wrong side of unwrapped 🙂 I’m wondering if I need to adjust/rethink my hip pads but maybe that’s the photo. Further testing required 🙂 But, the main thing, I felt happy with my outfit and the new heels were just right. Certainly more comfortable than the sparkly wedges. I did have a slight issue with my toeless tights, as I’d been a bit incautious, meaning by the end of the night, my left foot was making its discomfort known. Lessons learned for next time 🤞

I ended up taking an extra box along, as I had two wigs to sell on, a Popsie dress, and a laptop in case we need to type notes up.

The Popsie dress was a beautiful green with white flowers print, but the collar didn’t quite work for me nor the Ever Lovely Mrs J. Still, it suited Anne just fine, so that’s a win. The ginger ‘do I’d brought in for Debbie looked great on her. Angela has my old human hair number and I thought it looked better on her than I.

That’s put some space in my closet, so just a case of putting on my Big Girl Pants and convincing myself to pass on shoes I’ve replaced and don’t wear. That may be more emotionally taxing 🙂

As to the night itself, we had a good chat about the group’s finances and organisation. This was as a result of the paperwork we don’t have, that SumUp – who we have our card payment system though – state they need.

As Chams is not a business nor are we a charity, we don’t have the paperwork they say they need. I feel there’s a gap that we’ve fallen into as a volunteer group. Thankfully our bank has an account just for these community organisations, so we’re okay with them. I guess I’m trying to ensure the group’s funding and web details can continue and we’re not depending on one person.

Luckily, the new Tyl app which just uses my smartphone worked. We had a few teething problems with smart watches and my card only worked once. However, we managed to collect the funds and this helps keep the group ticking over. I might try my hand again to see if they can be more flexible around the details. Be a shame to have to stop using them, but if they can’t meet if half way, we’ll have to move on and they’ll lose the business.

Conversation moved on and everyone was chatting about various things. The American election was mentioned and I think the consensus is He Who is Not to be Named is unlikely – subject to a complete gaff by the other party – to get in. Perhaps there’s hope for the climate and equality yet.

Someone mentioned that She Who Is Not To Be Named seems to be be taking a break from social media. If this is related to the legal complaint raised during the Olympics, no one said.

Talk moved on to wigs/hair and where we buy ours from. We’ve got Wigeroo visiting in October, so that’s something else to look forward to. There’s a post in the forum and Nicola asked if I could put together a survey form, to help her understand the group’s needs.

It was fantastic to catch up with friends, and the night really lifted my mood. As Val and I tied up the pots, I spotted the tea bags. Ah, caffeinated: that might explain some of the energy I was feeling 😁 Whoops! Still, that’s my own fault for not checking and it was such a nice cup of tea as well!

Here’s to a long weekend!

  1. Many congratulations to your young ‘un on getting good results and being able to move on to A-levels. There’s a massive shift from compulsory schooling up to 16 and then ‘real’ study after that. You feel more human once you’re doing what interests you.

I find dysphoria – or at least that eternal fem ache – needs a little bit of attention every day. Well, quite a lot of attention in my case, but mileage varies. So a bit of regular trans maintenance is inevitable and good. Enjoy your prettiness time.

Nice outfit for chams. Despite the slight malfunctions, you look great.

Have a nice weekend. Sue x

    1. Thank you, Sue for the kind words for Child 2.0. Ah, the joyful moment as you leave behind the compulsory subjects, turning to focus on what works for you.

Yeah, it’s tricky trying to balance -ahem- passing as a cisgender bloke* and keeping my self care needs around presentation. TBH, it’s been a minor ache, which is a lot better than previous summers! Something to be grateful for and focus on the positives. 🙏

( * Luckily having the body of a 50 something, broadening and balding man helps carry that ‘man passing’ fairly well. 🙂 Just don’t look too closely at my fingernails, eyebrows, earrings, and/or lack of leg & arm hair 😁 ).

I did like the dress and maybe when the weather’s cooled a bit, I’ll experiment with shapewear to get my curves back. Well, curving inwardly at the waist, rather than convexly around the middle 😁 Gah, middle aged spread eh? 🎈

I hope the Mediterranean’s weather isn’t too stormy or too hot, and you get some time to be you.

  2. Congrats to your spawn on the GCSE results, my eldest has his next year, how time flies.

Caffeinated tea !!! hope nobody was binge drinking it. Glad to hear the new payment system is functional.

What is your new game out of interest ?

    1. The youngling did well. May the Force be with your progeny at next year’s the trials of the mind 😉

Thanks, though. C2 tried his best and I think that’s all you can ask. More than anything, I’m glad he’s happy with the results.

How time flies indeed. Wee Man left home a couple of years ago, and it’ll be interesting to see what Child 2.0 wants to do post A Levels.

Ha ha! “Tea hooligans – Tooligans! – tooled up on tea and off their trolley on full beans coffee. Call the cops!” 😁

No, there was no trouble, just me being unused to caffeine. Luckily we’re an alcohol free venue as I’ve had only two proper beers in ages. Been AF for ages. That might have been much more embarrassing.

Yeah, good news on the payment system. That’s a worry off my mind and it keeps the group’s funds topped up nicely.

The game is the new mod, Fallout London. It’s a hoot with all the British references, voices, and some beer dry Brit humour. I’ve read that those who know London well – which I do not – have said it’s fairly accurate in terms of locations. Well, as best you can given the game engine and the artistic licence of the setting. I’m sensing some Northern influence as there’s gravy as a health buff. Mind you, if you can’t stand your spoon in it, it ain’t proper gravy. 😉 Damn, now I’m thinking about chips n gravy. Not long until tea. I hope the beer festival is going well, BTW.

PS: Anne said Izzy said hi. 😉

      1. Thankyou , he has done well in his mocks, so fingers crossed

Ooo Fallout London, I have seen a few video’s about that, didn’t know it was available – may be tempted to get nearer Xmas when I have more free time.

      2. Fingers crossed for results he and you are happy with.

Yeah, Fallout London was released last month and I think they’ve done an amazing job. Apparently they started it during lockdown and there was a slight delay this year, as Bethesda pushed an update out. As with Skyrim AE, that broke a number of mods, so you’ll need to run a Downgrader.

  3. What a fun post! The best writing is prose that reveals an individual’s character. Their uniqueness. This certainly does, both in content (events in your life) and style (colorful, slangy). It’s a pleasure to read.

I need to make visiting here a regular thing. 🙂

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Ally. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Yeah, there’s quite a bit of slang in here and apologies if lots of it are confusing. Maybe I should’ve tried harder in my English GCSE course 🙂
