Nearly Christmas

Hi,

How’s things with you dear reader? Are you nearly sorted for Christmas and the festive period?

At Jones Towers, Child 2.0 and I have been out for the Late Night Big Shop™️ and we’re now fully stocked for festivities. Oddly enough, Wee Man used to enjoy the near midnight outing and so does Child 2.0. Maybe there’s something magical about being out & about while folk are turning in for the night.

I’ve noticed prices have gone up compared to last year. That’s even with not buying any booze, given the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I don’t drink. I’m thinking some more soft drinks may be in order from the local Co-op.

We’ve also cut back on gifts as we have both said there’s nothing we really want. I have bought Mrs J some new long sleeves as she said that’s something she did need. I think she’s bought me a shirt, and, bless her, she offered to treat me to some new boots. However, I bought those to save her pennies. Oh wow, they are so comfy and with a heel too.

There’s a few things to do before Wee Man and his partner turn up – namely tidying and Hoovering. There’s no decorations up at the mo, because…. well, neither Mrs J or myself have the energy nor the interest at the mo.

I feel a bit lazy saying that, but as I’d not say that to a friend, I’m not going to listen to the negativity goblin. Off you pop, Greenie. Go hide in the sprouts. 😉

I may try stringing up some fancy lights, but honestly, I’m not sure yet. However, I’m rather grateful for the week off I’ve just had. Dog walks, errands, housework, and enjoying a break from the usual routine. Oh, and afternoon naps. “The gods be praised,” as they say in Skyrim 😉 I’m certainly feeling less, well, knackered by the end of the day.

So domestic noonar aside, I’d like to wish you a fantastic festive break. Whatever you’re getting up to, I hope it goes well.

  1. If it’s any consolation, I haven’t put up any decorations yet either. Traditionally (and properly IMHO) they shouldn’t be put up till Christmas Eve anyway.

Wee Man has a partner? … wow, time is moving on.

I like the sound of the new boots. Look forward to seeing them in photos in due course.

You have a lovely long weekend.

    1. I’ll keep those tradition in mind, Sue. Thank you. I feel that Child 2.0 may wish to flex their artistic skills and have the tree up on Saturday.

Yes, Wee Man and his partner have been together for six months. They’re very sweet together and make a lovely couple. I may be a touch biased , though.

The spare room has been thoroughly deprincessed, so all of my extended wardrobe is upstairs. That includes the new boots and a number of pairs of heels that I’m not going to admit to numbering 😉

      Merry Christmas, Sue.

  2. Apart from a handful of Christmas cards on the shelves, we haven’t put up any lights or decorations.
Why should the goblin have all the sprouts. What about bubble and squeak? (More like bubble and shriek if you don’t remove the goblin before frying.)
Happy Christmas and New Year (and all the days between natch) to you and yours.

    1. There’s a smattering of cards on the kitchen table here too. I think Child 2.0 is looking forward to decorating the tree this Saturday afternoon.

As to sprouts, as much as I love them, I’ve sworn off them because of the Geneva Convention and the damage I do to the ozone layer. 🙂

On a happier note: merry Christmas to you and yours too, Susie. May your work inbox by quiet and your cheese board packed.

  3. Merry Christmas Lynn, to you and yours!

I’ve only put up my cards and a couple of strings of lights on one bookcase, myself. I’m more enjoying family, and free time than anything else.

Wishing you health and happiness for 2024!

    1. Merry Christmas you, as well, Pandora. 🎄

We’ve had a quiet Christmas too and it’s been rather good. Just the immediate family and no rushing around.

The tree is now up as Wee Man and Child 2.0 got stuck in on Xmas Eve.

      Wishing you a fab 2024.
