Sssh

Hi,

Those of you with eagle eye action – there’s a modern pop culture reference for you 😉 – may well have noted the lack of the usual Friday night post on YATGB.

A combination of too much week at the end of the motivation and… if I’m honest, I’m not sure I have much to say.

To the latter, yeah, what’s new? 😉

I think I’ve mentioned before, the idea of having bags of sugar to carry. Why sugar? Well, they’re handy 1Kg weights and it’s not like you could but flour during lockdown 😉

I guess with the summer – the heat, the clothes, my body issues (Hairy McMary vs Chalky McSquaky), etc. Well, it’s a number of proverbial extra weights to carry, and you know what? Sometimes it’s easier to just sit down and let things go by.

Rather than face the arrows of outrageous fortune, I think I’ll enjoy a quiet stroll through the woods, a coffee & chat with the Ever Lovely Mrs J, and generally take it easy.

  1. “Sometimes it hard to be a…” (with a Tammy Wynette C&W catch in the voice).
Or just inconvenient, or the weather’s all wrong, or the urge (need, desire) just isn’t there. Or any or all of those. I feel like that a lot recently, and the last few times I did indeed garb myself in manly attire (put some trews on) and go for a walk round the nature reserve and canal.
Odd how bags of sugar has become a comparative unit of measure (like football pitches or the size of Wales). But what if you’re diabetic? A kg of Canderel [other sweeteners are available] would be doubly inconvenient on the sheer amount of space it would take up.
Take care of yourself, and then you’re better placed to take care of others.

    1. Sometimes it’s hard to be a justified and ancient of Mu Mu? 😉 Still on my playlist.

Why are certain sugar replacements so, well, fluffy? Not so much granulated as powdery, almost like snowflakes.

I think my hyperfocus on gaming – my character is female, because, well, the obvious 🙂

I hope your stroll through nature helped.

  2. If cinders wants to enjoy the pure pleasure of sugar perhaps she needs to join in with Thrusty Mc’Thrust, Mr Mega Squat and Hugh long-runner on their Saturday evening blood bath style power lard reduction session or she could give up the sugar 🙂

    1. Ha ha! I only buy sugar for Child 2.0’s coffee and for Chams Massive. Hopefully that’ll ensure I don’t have to change my name to Hugh Jarse 😉

BTW, isn’t Thrusty McTrust having a ‘thinking moment’ with HR? 😁

  3. No-one’s under any obligation to perform and if you aren’t up to writing a Big Fat Post then that’s fine, hon. Enjoy the weekend and take life gently.

I dunno about “eagle-eye action” in modern parlance but didn’t Action Man develop into a swivel-eyed trooper at one point, with a lever in the back of his head to make those eyes flicker about, conning for danger? This was a Strong Selling Point to judge by the adverts of the, ahem, 1970s. Obviously, I was more into Barbie myself but boy words like “conning” seem to stick in my mind.

    1. Thanks Sue. I feel it would be very much a case of phoning it in. Ah, the funny tasks we set ourselves eh?

Well spotted. It is indeed a reference to Action Man. Hopefully he’s enjoying a much needed retirement and hasn’t followed the path of many 70s icons.

Mind you, I seem to recall Action Man was rather buff and had on a permanent set of pants to protect his modesty.

Perhaps he was secretly Action Trans Man, the hero and representation we all needed. 🏳️‍🌈😉

      1. Action Man was definitely secretly trans in my house. And he didn’t need to tuck.
