Tisn’t the season

Hi,

It feels like it’s been a busy week and I was glad of the Friday off. Today has mostly been a series of naps, a long walk, and lunch out with the Ever Lovely Mrs J.

I know that tiredness affects my creativity, so today’s post will be somewhat more of a ramble and with added incoherence. Don’t say I don’t spoil you 😉

The heating has now gone on at Jones Towers. At least, in the kitchen, bedrooms, and sitting room. I think post Xmas we may need an expert to look at how we can improve the insulation in the kitchen. That part of the house has the most external walls and a flat roof. It’s rather chilly. I don’t need the room to feel tropical, just not see my own breath as I talk 😁 On the upside, we managed for most of October and November, so here’s hoping that’s helped keep electricity use down. Plus, running the leccy car is saving on diesel, so that’s a win.

Talking of Xmas, the big day doesn’t seem far away and bar some small gifts for Mrs J, I’ve not started shopping for the family. I know my folks want a twenty quid limit this year. I’m not feeling the Christmas Spirit at the mo and on listening to family and friends, it seems I’m not alone in that. The Cost of Living Crisis seems to have bitten this year and fuel bills seen to be a frequent topic of conversation.

Plus I am pretty sure I don’t need anything. At least, not anything money can buy. I’d love to see less online hate and lies printed about the Trans community, but I won’t hold my breath. Plus, that might be difficult to put on my Christmas list 😉 Looking at the positives, PinkNews have updated their site and they continue to be LGBTQ+ positive and active. Guardian; see me after class. You need to improve your accuracy, impartiality, and support.

I might sound cliché but I’m very much considering asking my family to put money in to a charity or a food bank this year. Yeah, you can take a cheap shot at my woke, liberal caring virtue signalling if you want 😋 Better still, why not sponsor a bigot? Each time a family member or media talking head spouts some tosh, put a virtual quid in the pot, and enjoy donating that to a charity of your choice 🏳️‍🌈

Oh, talking of sponsoring, if you or those in your life have a certain animal or wildlife you love, there’s a few organisations out there where you can buy food, care, etc. The human recipient, so to speak, gets a personalised newsletter about said creature and how your gift has helped.

I am looking forward to the Chams Christmas Do, however. Many of the group have kindly volunteered to bring various food items along. I am hopeful we’ll have a good time talking, sharing, and enjoying each other’s company. I am going to have a rummage in the cupboard at home, to see if I can find some Xmas lights and maybe some electronic candles to help with the ambiance.

I checked up on the option to hire a dress, but I’d left it too late. It was whimsical and as much as the dress was very pretty, I’m not sure the above the knee split would’ve worked with my hip pads. I know the one I have in the wardrobe does and the Ever Lovely Mrs J was kind enough to offer me a loan of her recent wedding outfit purchases, bless her. I may well take one along as a backup because it’s good to be flexible. Having Mrs J’s acceptance and tolerance, well, that’s a gift that keeps giving across the years. ❤️

Here’s to a restful weekend and I hope you’re all keeping well

  1. Mrs Jones’s support is always a delight to read about. You have a good woman there. Cherish her.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas do and I look forward to reading about it. And have a good weekend. A three-day weekend is always good!

Incidentally, thanks for linking to the Mermaids crowdfunding site a few weeks ago. I’m delighted to see they’ve overshot their target.

    1. I’m very lucky to have met her, Sue. I mention these things because there’s many amazing partners, who accept, love, and help people like us. For a long time, I thought I’d be alone because of who I was. I am happy to report that is no longer the case.

Mermaids need help at the moment, bless them. They seem under attack from the press, their CEO stepped down recently, and PinkNews reports there’s an investigation going on. Dark times indeed.

    1. It’s one thing, I think, to be in a loving relationship. It’s another when a partner accepts who you are and supports you. Mrs J’s love, wisdom, and allyship have helped so much.
