How to recharge?

Hi,   If I’m honest, I’m struggling a little with this evening’s post. Not that there’s any particular big news, lack of inspiration, or suchlike; I’m just, well, tired. 🙂 Last night was a good night out to Chameleons and I was out of the door early to pick up a few groceries (aka snacks) for the Ever Lovely Mrs J. The evening went well with catching up with some familiar faces and some new folk too. We had a Bring & Buy sale and that helped top the funds up a little. The tiredness is down to our new pooch needing to get up multiple times in the night, while the older hound looked at me as if to say […]

Quite the experience

Hi, There’s a classic film in which one of the characters states: “Quite an experience to live in fear, isn’t it?” Roy, because this is from BladeRunner goes on to say something about slavery. Here we are in a year that’s later than that shown by the film, and yet, there is still slavery in the world, and indeed the UK. I find this both shocking and appalling. What does Roy’s line have to do with today’s post? Well, for the trans folk reading this, you’ll no doubt know that it was the Transgender Day of Remembrance this week. For those not in the know, it’s a time when T people remember those we’ve lost to violence. Yes, people murdered. […]

From red to black

Hi, There’s an article on the BBC’s website on their long read section titled How Skiving Made Me a Better Parent. Sure, it starts off with that story, but it goes into other personal stories from parents, singletons, and working folk. The opening line about self-care is something I think we Trans folk need to keep an eye on. It is, as the article suggests for other people, somewhat of a juggling act. I don’t think it’s an either/or situation when it comes to self-care, but – and like much in life – more a scale or continuum. I think it can help to look at your needs as mostly being met rather than yes/no. The black and white thinking […]

Pale and interesting

Hi,  With the nights drawing in and Halloween now behind us, I’ve started to think about Christmas. I’ve been planning lists for my family and also thinking about the Chams Xmas Do. Mind you, we have a Bring & Buy lined up and a visit from our friendly, neighbourhood wig experts, TrendCo, before the party. I have possibly three outfits I could wear again: red bodycon dress from the 90s, a black dress with lace top, or separates. The latter include a two tops and a sequin skirt. There’s also the option of going brighter and wearing the Desigual dress the Ever Lovely Mrs J bought me for a birthday many a moon ago. But…. I would like something new […]

A little respect

Hi,  The other day I was browsing Reddit and I happened to hit on a re captioned 60s comic image, or as the cool kids are saying these days: a meme. 😉 The image to your right isn’t it, but one I’ve tweaked as it feels a bit more trans positive. The other was one of those dramatic head-in-your-hands poses… oh, and 50 underwear which I felt might tip us towards the racy side of things and that’s not where I’m headed with this. Like a lot of things in life there’s a certain level of randomness – or synchronicity – about blogging. So it was that an article floated by about certain political parties trying to ‘protect children’ from […]
