“Like a lawn that’s seen better days…”

Hair loss. Now, what did Billy Connolly say about these? With the weather slowly turning to Spring, I’m finding I’m no longer sporting the all-important cosy hat. Okay, not a literal cosy but perhaps not far from it. 🙂 Much as it’s nice to feel the sun on my face, I’m sometimes conscious of the feeling of the wind through my lack of hair. You see *ahem* back in the day, I had long hair. Sure, it was a faff and meant a bit of upkeep, but it was very much part of who I was. Even when I had it cut, that felt more me than if I look at the buzzcut I have now. On bad days it […]

Recharging

Hi, Earlier today I was out at lunch, walking through the leafy suburb of West Bridgford. Given that it was Chameleons last night (woo!), I make the short journey over in the car to pay the group’s money into the bank. Not that the walk lets me people watch and chance to pop into my favourite fancy sandwich shop. I should add this is *after* I’ve paid the money in, not before. 😉 As I walked back I stopped by a jewelry shop to pick something up for the Ever Lovely Mrs J. Give it a few weeks and we’ll have been married 20 years. I don’t say this as a brag, but with thanks and gratitude. I’m thankful for […]

Temptation

Hi, The Night Before a Night Out It’s Wednesday night and I’ve just about packed a bag. I say just about, as I’m not quite sure what I’ll be wearing on Thursday. Why do I get this? Why is deciding what to wear so tricky? I opened my wardrobe and ignoring the bloke work shirts that are on the right, there’s tops, pretty skirts, leggings, jeans and the odd bit of sparkle. To my left, there’s the tall cupboard, which, if I’m honest, is 60% mine; filled with dresses and my only coat. Well, my only ‘Lynn’ coat, because I’m not really an outdoors trans person. Okay, mostly. 🙂 Instead, I’ve hedged my bets with an old favourite, a wrap […]

I don’t remember this bit when I bought a ticket!

Hi, Okay, let’s bundle all of my weekly thoughts into the proverbial washing machine and give a spin. I’d make a joke about not mixing the colours, but it may sound unpleasant. You know, like a bad Trump 😛 Satire aside, it’s been a bit of a mixed week. I have…. at the risk of sounding like dear old Marvin from Hitchhikers, felt a bit low and I resisted the urge to write anything about it. Mainly because I don’t think it would have done me much good to have talked about the cold, dark mud, when instead, I should be working on getting out of it. Which, after some walking, a little thinking and some distraction; seemed to manage. […]

Hair, happiness and heels

Hi, A mix of lows and highs this week Heartache On the long queue back home, I’ll often listen to a podcast. I guess, that’s just the not-so-modern way to describe, a recording of a radio show. Except now, you don’t need to wait for the live show and tape it. 🙂 Oh, technology and your ceaseless steps to make our lives a little easier. Now, if you could do something about making my car drive itself, I could have a nap or read a book, on the way home. 🙂 So, in amongst the usual suspects of Friday night comedy and witty news panel shows, I check out Desert Island Discs. For those not in the know, the (hopefully) […]

Keeping the green eyed monster at bay

Hi, The other day, as queued to get into the car park, a lady about my age got out, to request a ticket. This was during the day, and near work, so she was in business mode. Smart skirt, sensible heels, nude tights and a good coat. I don’t know why I’m faffing around saying this next bit, but she looked great. I dunno, maybe commenting on random stranger’s outfits, still doesn’t sit well with me. Go figure. But, her outfit, isn’t main point, as it where, just the warm up. In the back of my mind, a little voice whispered: you’ll never manage that. I drove on and let that thought drift through my head. My gut reaction – […]
