Leaning in

Hi,

Well, I’m very glad it’s Friday night at last. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve become a duffer, but there seems too much week at the end of the energy. Thankfully, it’s now the weekend and I can rest up a bit.

Not much to report which is perhaps a good thing. Well, some good news at least! Firstly, it’s been a while since the Anxiety Goblin has visited and that’s a welcome relief.

In terms of things to look forward to; it’s Chams this week. Plus perhaps a day out with Val midweek, maybe. All that and it’s a dewookification appointment. Must check on that so I get the day right!

I took a chance on ordering a very cute ballet wrap top…. but it’s not cut for tall (part time) birds, so that’ll need to go back. Thank goodness for returns – even if I have to pay – as they’re less expensive and less of a faff than going into the city.

Funny how things change. I used to enjoy going in but parking costs, travel time, and that have added up to make it more hassle than it’s worth. That may explain why the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I frequent the villages to the south for walks and food stops. Clothing and groceries are ordered in instead.

Looking forward to a stroll in the spring sunshine and maybe, just maybe, a tasty brunch with Mrs J, Child 2.0, and the hounds.

L x

PS: updating this post to include a link to International Womens’ Day. In a time where – let me be clear – morons are pushing back against much needed work for equality, I feel International Womens’ Day needs to be in peoples’ heads and hearts every day. No, it’s not about dissing men, it’s about giving people an equal chance and the same pay, conditions, and whatnot.

    1. Thank you, Vivien. Perhaps there’s a joy -if that’s the right word? – in having the blessing of not struggling. Does that make sense? The luxury of not having anything to complain about or be fearful of, particularly compared to other countries

( Gives the US the side eye 👀 ).

      Hope you are keeping well.

  1. “Too much week at the end of the energy”. I think I’ll make that my Current Favourite Phrase. Frankly, I find the week is pretty much downhill from Monday lunchtime as getting through Monday morning is where all the energy goes.

The highlights of the week ahead look good and we look forward to next week’s report on how it all went. Have a nice weekend, Lynn.

    1. Enjoy reusing the phrase, Sue 😊 A friend once said “there’s too much month at the end of the money”, so that’s the original.

As I was buying food last night, the cashier said that they didn’t mind working on a Friday so much. Mainly as, in her words, “everyone is so jolly”.

I asked about Mondays and got both a cringe and “Ahh, not so much” which made us both chuckle 😁

Not quite sure how things might go, but to lean into an old phrase “it can be better to travel in hope than to arrive”. Fingers crossed for the day out. Val says the weather might be iffy, so I think I’ll need to plan ahead. Perhaps even two options so I’m not wasting time on the day.

      1. I use the ‘too much night left for my sleep’. It’s far too often sadly. Interestingly, I always thought that if I could have an extra day off, I would choose Monday. Not because it’s a good day, but it would make my Sundays so much better knowing I could ‘blow out’ on Sunday. Fridays after all are so full of hope. (Nb, I worked shifts for most of my working life so weekends off were rare until later in my working life).

      2. A fellow night owl? 🦉 Born to stay up, forced to attend at 9AM 😁

Hmm. A Monday off rather than a Friday? There’s a thought. Do we have to choose! 😁
