Seeking pretty, not plain

Hi, Well, I think I can safely say it’s been a rather strange week. Thank you to those of you who offered kind words of support: it’s helped. ❤️ It has been a week away from work, but not time off in a holiday sense. But, hey, worker’s rights for sick pay and not being on a zero hour gig are reasons to be cheerful. I’m frustrated in that I am not quite there yet in terms of recovery. Cross with myself that this lethargy seems to have dragged on. It’s certainly made itself known this last two weeks and may have been lurking in the background from Christmas. The good news is that it’s just me and numerous COVID […]

A case of the shoulds

Hi, It has been a handful of strange days since the last post. The ongoing breathing/energy situation, meant I took up the doctor’s offer of getting in touch. Cue a quick chest exam and a new course of treatment. Part of that medical cocktail included a brief course of steroids. The good news is they seem to have helped dispel the infection and settle my breathing. Now, if you’re someone who needs a bounce in their step, maybe an extra five hours in the day, and a very healthy appetite, those tablets should be your drug of choice. However, those five hours really kick in after 11pm. So, if you need to be up at 7ish for the school run […]

Neshinistas

Hi, I feel it’s time to be honest with you all and come out. I am nesh and proud of it. 🙂 Big up the nesh massive and unfurl the fluffy, rainbow blanket of warmth! Yes, I have a propensity to feeling the cold. As much as I like to be wrapped up and cosy (hello hygge ❤️ ‘hoo-gurr‘), frustratingly I’m not good in hot weather. You’d think that topping up the warmth batteries in summer would help, but it seems not to work like that. So, the eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed no midweek post. I felt of the mindset that if you don’t have anything nice to say… It was a case that what I might […]

Reset, recharged, recovering

Hi, Well, it certainly helped to get back into the swing of things. After a bit too long in cisville, having time with like-minded folk certainly helped recharge my batteries. I think it’s easy to forget what a difference Chams makes. In fact, as the Ever Lovely Mrs J said to me earlier, it’s more than going out, it’s support too. How right she is. Oh, I’d also like to say a quick note of thanks to those of you who got in touch via email or who commented with support. Thank you ❤️ After last weekend’s spot of bother, I had ordered two skirts from the Oxfam Online Store as a bit of both a gamble and retail distraction. […]

Warnings, coping, and surviving

Hi, I think I can start this post by stating that the days around the weekend did not go well. I would add that it was no one’s fault and that I mention it because I try to keep YATGB honest. Yes, I’m aware that the hair, padding, shapewear, makeup, and not being 100% out make that statement jar somewhat, but hey, you can only do your best with what you have 🙂 TL/DR: it was pants, then things got better 😉 I can only describe the situation as being a slow descent into the dark woods. Not a relapse into depression, but certainly the withdraw of light and joy that accompanies that. I’m writing about this because A) blogging […]

Pictures put in your head

Hi, The other day I was browsing the online sales to both pass the time and on the off chance that something we need might pop up. Maybe even snag a bargain Christmas outfit. Snag is a word you need to be careful typing using autocorrect. 🙂 I didn’t, however, see anything we really needed or that I wanted. One thing that did catch my eye was an IPL machine. There’s been a few occasions when I’ve touched my face and, pretty obviously, felt stubble. That’s not unusual, ‘cos you know, I’m a bloke, at least physically. Mentally, oh let’s just not fall down that rabbit hole 😉 What’s troubling is that on a number of occasions, that feeling of […]
