Now compared to the then

Hi, Given the travel situation seems to be quite on again, off again, the Jones Massive are staying put this summer. Plus, both kids are off an age where I think they want to be at home with their friends, online, or gaming. I seem to recall when I was their ages – around the time the glaciers retreated from Europe 😉 – that I was happier with my own company, with friends, my trusty old 8 bit computer, than visiting country house gardens with my folks. Funny, while we’re not doing the country house thing – or (rolls eyes) a ‘fun’ visit to a museum, the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I are quite happy to wander along lanes, […]

Turning

Hi, The Ever Lovely Mrs J and I have been catching up on our longer walks. Given our dear old boy dog has passed on, it seems his partner in crime, girl dog – and the recently acquired new boy dog – have decided that all walks will now be done at a brisk pace. After the last few months of gentle strolls, I’m not quite managing to keep up. What a duffer eh? 🙂 Perhaps it’s a good thing we have to slow down. I’m not sure that others in the woods would enjoy a ground level sonic boom as the hounds accelerate to sub light speed…. 😁 In reality, the pace starts quickly, but as the hounds pick […]

Excellence

Hi, To those of you who got in touch about last week’s sad events, or said kind things about last week’s outfit – or, of this week’s post, if you will – thank you. ♥️ You didn’t have to and it was touching. I was not expecting any of that and that’s not why I waffle on here on YATGB. I think I try to offer a positive spin on what it’s like to be outside the usual gender roles. Mainly with the message, or so I hope, that if I can, anyone can. You just need to give it a go. Now, given the Internet isn’t always a pleasant place, genuine kindness reminds me that people can be beautiful, […]

Measurements

Hi, Perhaps it’s hackneyed and obvious, while the sun sets, it must also rise in the morning. Perhaps it’s a good job that it does, otherwise the Earth would freeze and we’d all be dead. Great news for vampires, but probably a downer on the rest of us. Actually, who would vampires drink? Maybe it’s best the Earth keeps on spinning after all. Now, where was I? Earlier in the month I had visited a lingerie specialist who’s based up near Newark. Janice has visited us before the whole COVID19 fiasco and been very welcoming about supporting LGBTQ+ customers. I turned up in Richard mode, we had a quick chat in the showroom, and then it was off for a […]

Sunset

Hi, Last night was Chameleons and usually we’d have the obligatory What I Wore photo, commentary of the last minute nerves, and other news. But not today. When I woke this morning, our beautiful boy dog’s cancers had grown massively in the night. When we embarked on his treatmen and asked how would we know when it was time, both the vet and a local rescue charity had said we would know when it was. We knew he was slowing down on his walks, yet the night before he was his usual cheeky self. Welcoming on our trip to the shops, making himself known when Wee Man had uneaten pizza crusts on a plate. Today was the day we knew […]

Funny shaped dice

Hi, Ah, the luxury of a long weekend shines forth once again. Yes, with the Jones Crew not heading in holiday this summer – what with family health, doggo worries, exam results, and that old devil COVID – the Ever Lovely Mrs J and I are using up or holiday by taking shorter weeks at work. I’m rather liking it as there’s times in booking a break that it just adds more stress to the general huff and puff of life. That aside, I’ve been enjoying the weekly podcasts from Mermaids UK and if you’re not yet listening in, there’s a list of them here. It’s a collection of different presenters from around the Trans community and they talk about […]
