Hi,
A quiet week this time around. Perhaps this is a good thing? As much as Grand Day Out – see last week’s post – is rather special, sometimes a period of relaxation is very good too.
On that note, it feels like I’ve hardly been at work. I mean, I had two days off and with Fridays a non working day, it was very much a short week! 🙂
I took the time as Child 2.0 was home for a study week and I knew he had appointments he might need ferrying too. Likewise, eldest doggo needed a trip to the vets for a checkup. The latter wasn’t cheap, but he’s worth it and we have pet insurance.
I find pet insurance does two things: it takes the sting out of certain treatments, and reminds you that free healthcare for humans is a very good thing indeed. One of many reasons not to vote for grifting Big Health sock puppets on the take 🖕
I did decide to take a punt on a new dress from Vinted, so I’ll see how that goes when it arrives. I had hoped to find something suitably gothic or the camp end of camp. I am hoping the dark lace dress will tick that requirement.
A few items were taken to the charity shop, so that’s cleared a bit of space. I have yet to send on the witchy tunic, although it may go if the new dress is suitable. I guess the witchy nine might work with leggings, but it’s short sleeves, so not ideal for winter. Yes, I am nesh 🙂
In slightly sad news, the beautician I go to has decided to move on to a new business. S says it was a very difficult decision, and while I shall miss her conversation, wisdom, and – of course – expertise; it’s best to move on if things are not working for you. Yes, I sent a kind text, wishing her well and thanking her for her acceptance and all that.

So I’ve been looking at businesses that might accept me and I am hopeful I’ve found someone. The website said they’re LGBTQ friendly, so I took that as a good sign and booked. I did ask for a call as I wanted to make sure they were okay with the request.
Today we had a quick chat and all seems okay. They did say they were wary about male visitors and didn’t want any weirdos. They asked why I wanted my legs done. I said I’m genderfluid; kinda splitting my time between looking male and looking female. As such, having hairfree legs is really important to me, and I picked their salon because of the LGBTQ icon on the site.
I added that I absolutely didn’t want them to ever feel uncomfortable, so if they’d rather not offer leg waxing, that’s completely okay and I’d cancel. Apparently it’s all okay, so fingers crossed for the appointment next month.
Back to usual hours next week, although I do have some work travel at the start of it. Still, makes a change!
Thursday I may need to find a different route to Chams HQ due to the roadworks getting more disruptive. It’ll be nice when it’s all done, I keep telling myself. Still, at least I don’t have to pay for fuel being all electric.
What’s going on in your neck of the woods?

You had me at Dark Lace Dress. We know it’ll tick the boxes if you feel compelled to do the Wednesday Addams dance in it. Dad dancing in such circumstances is entirely acceptable and understandable.
I hope the new salon is to your liking. My local salons in London were all fine with me there for nails, or back or leg waxing in female or male mode. The manager of my most local one was a straight guy and close neighbour and his feeling was: who cares why Bob’s here, as long as he’s spending money in my business. I appreciate it’s different in a place run by women.
Have a nice weekend. Hope Child 2.0 is enjoying uni.
Sue xx
I think any attempt to copy said dance, is likely to look more Grizzly Adams than Wednesday 😉 Ah, that’s a modern reference for the kids 😁
As much as I love dancing, I seem unable to do any formal or structured, uhh, choreography. Too much ADHD and a love of a good track, I guess.
On the note of dancing, I think I heard on a podcast* that someone (Annie Mac?) had provided free stickers to club night folk, which would cover smartphone cameras. Accordingly to the anecdote, too many folk were not getting up to dance, as they were afraid of being videoed and being mocked on-line.
( * Possibly Tia Coffee’s The Final Frontier with guest Suzie Ruffle ).
Wait…. What were we talking about? 😁
I’m hopeful the new salon will work out. If not, I’ll try again elsewhere. I can always epilate, if not. I seem to recall some concern at the first waxing place, but once we got chatting, those worries drifted away. I suppose there’s the fear of the unknown and that some folk are weird – not in a cool, kooky way either! So you need to protect yourself. I’ve had similar at Chams were someone says something that makes the alarm bell ring subtly. It’s very rare, but still.
I think Child 2.0 is getting into the swing of things. It’s very different from being at home and the nearby school. A completely different city – although it’s a campus uni – and a lot more people than he’s used to. But, he’s finding his course mates are into similar hobbies as he is, and he’s leaning into his interests. Early days still, but I think it’s a lot better than the start was. He’s such a good lad, bless him, and tries his best.
Hope your weekend goes well too.
Short weeks are the next thing to holiday weeks. Hope you had time to unwind and relax.
Good luck with the new salon and the dress from Vinted. I hope between them they tick a number of boxes.
Thanks Susie, and yes, plenty of time to relax. I could’ve had a go at the brambles by the fence, but after powerwashing the patio (moss, mud, and lichen), I was a bit pooped out 🙂 There will be other chances, and sometimes I think time spent indoors is as good. Reading, a bit of gaming, dog petting, etc ♥️
I’m hoping the dress works. I think we’ve two more meetings at Chams until the Xmas ‘Do, and this dress is more Halloween 27. Not the film series, I should add 😁
